Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club
Pine valleys. Nine lakes. Narrow fairways. Two double greens and
a signature island green. Plus one of the toughest finishing holes
in Florida. The Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club is one of
the Southeast’s finest courses. It was totally restored under
the direction of golf course architect Ron Garl, who has designed
nine of the top 50 courses in Florida.
The 18-hole, par-72 championship course challenges the serious
golfer, while still providing an enjoyable round for the casual
player. A driving range, practice putting green, plus a bunker and
chipping area help you hone your game.
Located on picturesque Snell Isle, just minutes away from the resort
via complimentary transportation, the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and
Golf Club offers another intriguing peek at the hotel’s history.
The clubhouse, built by local developer Perry Snell in 1926, was
designed as a replica of a mosque and open-air market, complete
with keyhole arches, inlaid tile, ancient inscriptions and a huge
ballroom.
The Renaissance Vinoy golf course features nine lakes, narrow fairways,
vast pine valleys, two double greens and a signature island green.
In addition, the course offers an extensive, state-of –the-art
sub service drainage system and 25-foot deep lakes to ensure year-round
play. The highly acclaimed golf course architect Ron Garl, who designed
nine of the top 50 courses in Florida, most recently restored the
course in 2003. The signature hole, number 16, is a 568-yard, par
5 with water along both sides of the fairway culminating with an
approach shot to an island green. The resort’s championship
course is also part of the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System,
a national program coordinated by the Audubon Society of New York
State and sponsored in part by the United States Golf Association.
As a result, the course is involved in projects, which enhance wildlife
habitats and preserve natural resources.
